American Magic selects Kiwi company Inugo for its America’s Cup Base

Inugo, a premier provider of contactless access control, has been selected as the access control provider for U.S. America’s Cup Challenger American Magic, securing access to their base while they are in Auckland for the 2021 America’s Cup season.

“We are very excited to be partnering with American Magic,” says Inugo’s Ben Martel. “During a sporting tournament your base is your home, and knowing you have safe & easy access to your home is paramount. We are proud to be providing this peace of mind for American Magic. Additionally, as a Kiwi owned and run company, it’s heartening to see local technologies being selected by international teams on the world stage.”

The Inugo solution provides contactless access to gated facilities via the Bluetooth Gate Controller & the Inugo App. Users download the app and once granted permission, open gates with the touch of a button within the app. American Magic has a full auditable history of who is coming and going from the base, and can restrict access of certain areas to certain users. Not only is this a low cost, scalable option for the 145 person team, but aids itself to the Health & Safety precautions around COVID-19.

Inugo has provided access control to the American Magic base from September 2020 onwards. American Magic will compete in the ACWS Auckland (December 17–20, 2020), The Prada Cup (The Challenger finals, January 15 — February 22, 2021) and the 36th America’s Cup (March 6–21, 2021).
